How to

Trigger an action other than through the user interface, with an input

You can read inputs and write to outputs within a macroļ»æ, so if you expect a certain output to change state during a certain operation.

For example: During the automatic tool change operation, after the tool change is performed, you can check whether a sensor in the spindle reports that the tool is correctly inserted.

For actions, with the controller itself, you can use

  • PAUSE and RUN inputs on your controller to trigger pause/start action
  • Use the E-Stop input for situations that require an emergency stop
  • If the controller has an AUX input: configure a safety input on one of the AUX inputs to trigger a motion stop or a display message
  • If the controller has an DRVALM input: configure a drive alarm action to stop motion
  • If the controller has an EXT-ERROR input: configure an external error action to stop motion

If you have more extensive requirements for externally triggered actions, such as macro or output level changes, we offer an integrated custom operator panel solution with our UIO-10 device. Please refer to the UIO-10 documentationļ»æ and the store page for more information.

Alternatively, if you would like to control your machine remotely, we also offer a ready-to-use Wireless Handwheel.
